Young Scientists at #LINO70: Anna Blakney – Next Generation of RNA Vaccines

Published on May 13, 2021

Anna Blakney is working in a field that has become very important in the fight against the pandemic: RNA vaccines. Her focus is self-amplifying RNA, the next step of RNA vaccines. She is Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia in the Michael Smith Laboratories and School of Biomedical Engineering. She presented her work during last summer's Online Science Days. Find out more about her on our blog:

It’s a really exciting time to be in the field of RNA vaccines, given the recent approval of the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna vaccines for COVID-19. There is so much interest in the field, which is great, but these are by no means the optimal vaccines and there is still a lot to learn.
